I have Searched looking for this topic on these Forums and haven't found a solution yet.

I downloaded SynthEdit and followed the instructions for installation on my Acer Laptop, running Win XP. After seeing the "Successfully Installed" message I tried to run SynthEdit. It refuses to run. I've tried an earlier version of SynthEdit, same problem.

I get the following WinXP error message that says:

The applicatiion has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem

So, I used the WinXP Control Panel to uninstall SynthEdit and then did the reinstall. Same error message when I try to run it.

Any clues about something I am doing wrong, or not doing, that can fix this problem so I can run and use SynthEdit would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Bruce

It appears that my problem was caused by trying to install any version downloaded directly from this SynthEdit website. After again uninstalling another failed attemp I found the version at:

www.softpedia.com/prog...85396.html

Running the EXE install from that website was different in that it first installed the runtime software, then it installed SynthEdit. Now SynthEdit runs properly.

It appears that the Setup file from this SnthEdit website either doesn't run properly on my computer, or, I wasn't able to figure out how to run it properly from the documentation here.

In any event, if you have the same "failed to run" problem know that for me uninstalling SynthEdit using the WinXP Control Panel and installing from the above mention site worked.
